According to Statistics Canada data, as of 31.12.2022, wheat stocks in Canada were 22,300 tons (+33% compared to the previous year), durum wheat stocks reached 3.7 million tons (+46%), barley stocks were 5.1 million tons (+61%), corn stocks were 11.8 million tons (+3%), rapeseed stocks were 11.4 million tons (+29%) and soybeans stocks were 3.7 million tons (+14%).

– Yesterday Chicago commodity funds were net sellers of 4,000 contracts of corn and 3,000 contracts of soybeans and neutral on wheat.

– According to AgRural data, as of 05/02/2023, 12% of the planned second corn crop areas (+7% for the week and 24% a year earlier) have been sown in Brazil. In Mato Grosso, 16.4% of the areas were sown (42% a year earlier) and 3% in Parana. 9% of soybean areas have been harvested in the country (16%) and 14 million tons of soybeans were harvested.

– According to Safras&Mercado data, as of 02/03/2023, Brazilian farmers have sold 31% of their 2022/23 soybean crop (44% a year earlier and 45% on average over the last five years).

– South Korean MFG bought 138,000 tons of feed corn at 339.5 – 339.83 USD/ton C&F and delivery in May.

– India shipped 459,000 tons of sunseed oil in January, more than twice as much as December. Imports from Ukraine were 155,700 tons, imports from Russia were 82,000 tons and wheat imports from Bulgaria reached 57,700 tons.

– Over the July-January period, 5.02 million tons of Russian wheat were delivered to Turkey (4.58 a year earlier), 4.54 million tons to Egypt (+26%), 1.77 million tons to Iran (4), 1.34 million tons to Algeria, 970,000 tons to Sudan, 810,000 tons to Libya and 140,000 tons to Tunisia.

– According to the forecast of FAS USDA, the wheat production in Algeria is 3.3 million tons in 2022/23 and barley production is 1.2 million tons. Imports of barley will reach 772,000 tons, and wheat imports are projected at 8.2 million tons. Wheat imports will be at their highest level since 2016/17, when they were 8.4 million tons.
